It is my greatest pleasure to introduce you, our visitors, to Cynthia Siddells. Cynthia has agreed to illustrate our next two publications. Namely, "Emma" and "How the Magpie got its Name", both of which were written by Lisa Maree Laney.
We at Hovding Publishing welcome you Cynthia into our circle and look forward to a long and happy association.

At nine o'clock this morning I was at a meeting with Belinda to discuss the possibility of arranging an illustrator for Lisa's next books awaiting publication. These books are of cause "How the Magpie got its Name" and "Emma". The meeting went very well, with Belinda and myself hitting it off right from the get go. We enjoyed a very positive discussion about our writings, (as Belinda also writes) and Lisa's books in particular. Emma actually almost brought Belinda to tears which says much about the way Lisa writes and the message in this book.
I left this meeting feeling very positive about a long awaited outcome. Between that meeting I attended a friends funeral and after a cup of tea and a chat we returned home for a time before we are due to go to the house after the private internment. We were only home a short time and I was writing a short post for Facebook when my business phone rang.
With much excitement I answered it hoping to hear from the woman who may do the drawings for these books. Yay, it was indeed her and she loved the manuscript and is more than happy to start with a few drawings for my approval. I'm sure I will be very happy with what she produces as I have already seen a previous book she illustrated and love her work.
Looking forward to meeting her and seeing what she has come up with and taking this to the next level.

At long last a step in the right direction. I met with one Michael Saywell (Mongering Director of the Design School) in Palmerston North today to discuss the possibility of having illustrations done for Lisa’s books. Namely Emma and How the Magpie got its Name.
This meeting went well and I have another meeting arranged with Belinda for Wednesday 31st of March. Belinda assisted a student with illustrating an earlier book which I was able to inspect and I believe Lisa would be very happy with her art work. If a satisfactory arrangement can be made with this young illustrator we will be well on our way to getting these books published. Looking forward to this meeting with high hopes, if all goes well I will be looking for advanced orders for the first production run. Stay tuned for further updates as they happen. Peter Laney |
